Message from the Chair to all undergraduate and graduate students 17 August 2020

Dear student,

As we get closer to the beginning of the Fall term, I want to let you know that we will be ready to welcome you all in September, both in virtual and on-campus environments.  Most of our classes will be taught online, but some will also have an in-person component.

If you are unsure of the format of your classes (whether in person and/or online), please click on one of the following links:

- undergraduate courses: https://timetable.iit.artsci.utoronto.ca

- graduate courses: https://www.french.utoronto.ca/graduate

We have all been working hard, on  the St. George campus, to provide you with a safe learning environment. As you know, all students, instructors, and visitors will have to wear masks in all UofT buildings, including classrooms. Instructors may decide to remove their mask when teaching, but only if this is absolutely safe for all and by keeping a distance of at least 2 meters. Classrooms, instructors’ offices, and common rooms  have all been reorganized to ensure physical distancing measures and sanitation protocol are maintained.

The departmental offices on the second floor of Odette Hall will not be open everyday  for in-person contact.  If you wish to visit  us to have your questions answered or to receive counselling, please contact the person you want to meet to request  an on-line meeting or, if absolutely necessary, to book an appointment for an in-person meeting.

You can reach the undergraduate counsellor at french.undergraduate@utoronto.ca and the graduate counsellor at french.gradcounsellor@utoronto.ca .

All our instructors  look forward  to welcoming you in September and to provide you with the best possible learning experience. In many cases, we will enter uncharted territories and so will you, but we are optimistic about our collective strength to navigate and reach port safely.

Your captain,

Anne-Marie Brousseau
