Description:
A study of the distribution and relationships of the syntagmatic components of contemporary French; of the structure of simple and complex sentences; of the principles of coordination, subordination and expansion. A brief survey of major theories of syntax (functional, transformational, etc.).

Assignments and evaluation:
one take home assignment (25%), 2 tests (2x25%), one reading report (15%), overall assessment (10%).
Prerequisite:
FRE 272H1 + FRE 274H1.
