Special Topics in French Linguistics: Linguistic Inferences

Description:

This course examines the phenomenon of linguistic inferences. Students will be introduced to a variety of inferential phenomena: how they are formally analyzed in linguistic theories, and how experimental data can inform these theories. Students will develop their ability to critically read published research studies, and learn how to design experimental studies to investigate inferential phenomena.
