Biography

My main research interests lie in Symbolism, broadly defined (from Baudelaire to Mallarmé).

While being based on textual analysis, my approach to literature is informed by a philosophical sensitivity to fundamental issues pertaining to « modernité », e.g. the normalization of disbelief.

My current research project on incantation reflects this dual approach. I attempt to analyze technical as well as symbolic implications of this age-old form of discourse, in the context of fin-de-siecle literature.
